Starting situation

To create a more realistic and exact material flow simulation it is necessary to focus on physical attributes. According to the effort of the Internet of Things and the associated use of cyber-physical systems it is possible to create a visualization of the real world based on physical attributes.



Physical attributes within material flow combined with the characteristic of cyber-physical systems and manufacturing execution systems leads to an autonomous production control. Starting with the customer’s order, it is possible to create production orders based on the Bill of Material. Physical attributes of this production orders - like dimensions, mass, energy consumption, set-up- and production-time – can be used as conditions for the coordination of activities within a production system.
